the past 7 days (in bullet points)

  • returned from lovely London to my city by the bay
  • had a glorious stroke of luck (or fate?) when I caught SM on her way to NYC
  • reunited with some missing pieces
  • moved into an adorable apartment with CE and RD... pictures to come
  • ran my second half marathon and held hands with CE across the finish line again
  • sliced the tip of my ring finger off at work, fainted, went to the ER and used my new grown up insurance for the first time
  • new kings. hooray
  • too much coffee, not enough sleep

things I love today...

London's freak rainstorms
(especially the ones that have a little thunder involved)
Leaving all doors and windows open during these freak rainstorms
Running along Regent's Canal to Regent's Park
Running in one of these London's freak rainstorms
Cooking with FB in her lovely kitchen
The end of another long Monday
This song
etc.

zebras and crocs and crickets... oh yum

Tonight I was lucky enough to enjoy a truly adventurous culinary experience with AE and EH at Archipelago. Check out their menu to see some of the exotic creations they offer diners. Our table was graced with zebra, kangaroo, crocodile, the "love bug" salad (crickets, etc) and last but definitely not least, a scorpion (covered in chocolate of course).

I am proud to admit I tried everything we ordered and enjoyed every single bite, including the potentially dangerous bites of scorpion. Apparently if you do not chew it thoroughly enough the sharp shards of scorpion body can slice the back of your throat. Mmmmm....crunchy and delicious!

The zebra is comparable to a good thin piece of steak. The kangaroo was amazingly soft and chewy but in a good way. The crocodile was delicious as well. Thankfully I chewed my scorpion intensely enough and my throat is still in tact. Definitely going back here if I can!
